A Wedding at The Wild Pheasant | Abbie & Charlotte
All the giggles at a Wild Pheasant Hotel Wedding
Abbie & Charlotte got in touch last year looking for a wedding photographer for their wedding at The Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa in Llangollen, Denbighshire. they drove mostly my way to meet which I always appreciate and we talked about their day and their vision along with their awesome road trip idea for the West Coast of America. Something which myself and Cera have done before so I was keen to impart my experience and somewhat limited knowledge on to them. After talking for ages I left the decision in their hands and dropped them my American road trip itinerary over for them to use and abuse even if they didn’t book me. Luckily for me though I was the one to be for this day.
A little longer drive than normal to this big day but it was totally worth it as I love anything Wales. I just had to navigate the International Eisteddfod Music Festival before arriving at the Wild Pheasant. Abbie and Charlotte let me know about this planned event so I could make provisions to avoid traffic. This is super important when travelling to the venue.
Photographing a same-sex wedding is always exciting for me as the traditional rules are leant on but then at moments completely thrown out the window. It was great in the morning as I got to spend time with both Abbie and Charlotte in the same room before they departed to change for their big day.
I absolutely loved Abbies’ incredible Justin Alexander dress from Brides of Chester and Charlotte’s small detail on her bow tie and her Dune shoes looked awesome.
My First Wedding at Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa
Living over an hour away from Wild Pheasant this my first time photographing at this beautiful Llangollen wedding venue. I love travelling to Wales for weddings as I find them super magical. Cara and the team at Wild Pheasant made me feel right a home. I often venture further afield to photograph weddings and I don’t charge for the pleasure. I find it incredibly exciting actually and really relish the opportunity to shoot within a new space and a new wedding adventure.
My style of wedding photography is built on a great relationship with my couples. All of my weddings are different and unique; even if I was to shoot again at the same venue as Wild Pheasant. Time on your wedding day is really important to me as I’m sure it is to you too. So if I can help it I don’t really want you to miss a thing and would love you to remember as much as possible. This caring and relaxed approach to my wedding photography is the reason why so many couples recommend me. They always say it feels like a friend is taking their photographs and not a photographer.
Being a Wild Pheasant Wedding Photographer
Once again this venue had “Wedding Photography areas”. As I’ve already mentioned before I’m not the fondest of these areas. I prefer to tread new ground with my couples so when one of the guests said we could use the Grandmas river front terrace I was all in. We wandered through their home as they were just cooking Pork for tea. It was a very random but lovely experience.
Venturing out is obviously always fun especially when it’s just across the road and an impromptu thing. I also really loved creating at the venue with these two though. Using different techniques we took a photograph on car parks which involved me lying on the floor to grab an epic tree line as the backdrop. We also grabbed the top photo in the driveway of the hotel as the light wasn’t as harsh here. Later on we went for another wander and shot through roses bushes whilst children ran around us causing natural laugher. Then one of my favourite pieces was firing flash through the chandelier on the dance floor for the first dance. This venue is super diverse and I could have definitely gone on creating which makes being a Wild Pheasant wedding photographer a super awesome job.
