Floral Hall Wedding Photography | Lauren & Harry
A Staffordshire Wedding
As do so many other people Lauren & Harry actually came to me after being wounded by another photographer cancelling their Floral Hall Wedding for no reason. This happens all too much and it’s always when the photographers seem to be at the budget end of the spectrum. I suppose that’s a risk you take when you’re trying to save money on your wedding.
Straight from the off my personality and personal charm was a high contrast to the experience Lauren and Harry had experienced elsewhere. I was keen to really make this transition even easier than it usually is as they’d had such a rough time. Also, I was really keen to finally shoot at Floral Hall. It’s a venue that is super close to me in Stoke-on-Trent and for one reason or another, it’s just eluded me for the longest of times.
Due to government covid guidelines, Lauren and Harry had to cut their already small wedding back from 30 people to just 15. It really was a shame that they had to make sacrifices but it enabled us to reimagine the entire day and rather than grab some food in the evening we were able to escape for more photographs at Hanchurch Woods which is a local place I walk a lot but have never photographed a couple here.
The day flew by in an utter whirlwind. We also played games with the downpours which wreaked havoc on our time but in the end, it was great because we got to re-enter Floral Hall and I was challenged within a limited space which is usually when I work best.
A Spring Wedding at Floral Hall
I loved being a part of Lauren & Harry’s wedding day at Floral Hall and would relish the chance to do it again.
My style of wedding photography is strongly built on my incredible extraverted personality and using this to build an incredible relationship with every single one of my couples. All of my couples are different and unique so in turn, so are their weddings and the photographs always lean on their personalities to make them completely different. This is even the case if I was to shoot again at Floral Hall again. For me and my couples time is everything on their wedding day, you want to spend it with your friends and family and not on a massive photo shoot in a field. So if I can help it I don’t really want you to miss a thing and would love you to remember as much as possible. This caring and relaxed approach to my wedding photography is the reason why so many couples recommend me. They always say it feels like a friend is taking their photographs and not a photographer.
Beautiful Staffordshire Village Hall
Located along Queens Avenue in Tunstall Victoria Park just down the road from High Lane Oatcakes sits Floral Hall. After travelling down a small lane alongside Tunstall Methodist Church you’ll come to the impressive white Floral Hall. Originally called The Park Pavillion and erected over 100 years ago in 1911 it has stood proud in Tunstall Park until 1991 when it was closed and its conservatory was demolished.
Now owned by a local community board of trustees the building reopened and had an extensive modernisation. There are also now future plans to add the conservatory back and restore Floral Hall to its original vision so many people can enjoy the panoramic views of the park whilst having afternoon tea or celebrating a wedding.
Floral Hall stands on a raised terrace in the centre of Victoria Park and is built in line with the Arts and Crafts movement featuring a single-story high ceiling wooden framed exposed roof. Large stone framed Venetian windows sit on its north-east facade and pour natural light into the building.
A Floral Hall Wedding Day
Floral Hall has a large adaptable space and is perfect for couples planning a wedding on a budget within Stoke-on-Trent. It’s definitely a front-runner for Staffordshire when it comes to beautiful town/village halls to get married in.
The hall is also licensed to do full wedding ceremonies so there’s no need to go between two venues on your big day, you can have the entire thing in Floral Hall at Victoria Park. If you were looking for a religious service though you could easily marry in any number of the local churches including Tunstall Methodist Church which is actually located on the same small lane as Floral Hall or the stunning turquoise bell roofed Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church which is across the road and forms a very notable part of the Tunstall skyline.
The Hall is very much a DIY wedding venue requiring you to organise practically everything. This is great for couples looking for complete control over their day meaning they can use any wedding suppliers from wherever they may like.
Photographing During The Spring
I loved photographing at Floral Hall. It was absolutely magical and I’m so pleased I was able to tick it off of my “to shoot” list which it’s sat on for many years. It’s so easy being a Floral Hall Wedding Photographer. You’ve such a beautifully bright space within the hall which is easy to get to and when you need it you have the vast surroundings of Victoria Park to explore when taking family portraits or escaping for a few moments with the couple by the fountain, bandstand, or fishing pond.
I can’t wait to return to Floral Hall and I really hope it happens sooner than it did this time.
