Roaches Engagement Shoots
Returning Lover of The Roaches
It’s always a challenge to find a new and exciting place to take engagement photographs for my wedding couples. This is why I often return to the Roaches every now and then to photograph my engagement shoots.
With its rugged rock formations and forever changing Staffordshire sky no one engagement shoot is the same at the Roaches. For example; Olivia and Tom’s engagement shoot below was shot at sunrise and Jennifer and Robbie’s was shot at sunset. You can’t have a bad time of day up at The Roaches.
A Bit About the Area
Just off of the A53 passing by The Three Horseshoes Inn you’ll come across an unassuming left turn through the village of Upper Hulme where you will arrive at the foot of the Roaches.
As a Peak District gem, this beautiful rock formation allows visitors to look right out over the majoritively flat Staffordshire countryside. With views of the nearby Tittesworth Reservoir and Rudyard Lake this very popular tourist attraction never ceases to impress. Its ascent can be made along several different pathways varying in difficulty or if you’re that way inclined you can ascent the formations through a vertical rock climb.
The rugged landscape of the Roches groups together two gritstone outcrops, Ramshaw Rock which features the ‘Winking Man’ which can be seen as you arrive from Leek and also ‘Hen Cloud’ which is the main attraction to offer the wider unspoilt views across Staffordshire.
The area is said to be home to mermaids along with many other mythical characters and stories. As with many things steeped in mystery and storytelling, there are a lot of names which come as standard. As you climb The Roaches you may come across Doxey Pool, Bearstone Rock and the newer named Don Whillans Memorial Hut.
The area has got such a story to it I just love adding more to it by bringing a lot of my couples here for their engagement shoot.
Colourful Engagement Photography at The Roaches
Living just down the road from The Roaches in Stoke-on-Trent I love to venture up to The Roaches for an engagement shoot. I often venture further afield to photograph engagement shoots as I love discovering new beautiful places. I find it incredibly exciting actually and really relish the opportunity to shoot within a new space and have a new adventure.
My style of wedding photography is built on a great relationship with my couples. All of my engagement shoots and weddings are different and unique; even if I was to shoot again at the same place as The Roaches.
When it comes to your wedding day, time is really important to me as I’m sure it is to you too? So if I can help it I don’t really want you to miss a thing and would love you to remember as much as possible. This caring and relaxed approach to my wedding photography is the reason why so many couples recommend me. They always say it feels like a friend is taking their photographs and not a photographer.
